2019 Choreographers and Dancers |
Julia Feldman
was trained under the direction of Pamela Hayes at Pamela Hayes Classical
Ballet. Currently in her 9th season with the Sacramento Ballet, she has
danced principal and featured roles in works choreographed by George Balanchine,
Ma Cong, Ron Cunningham, Jodie Gates, Adam Hougland, Gabrielle Lamb,
Molly Lynch, Melissa Barak, Darrell Grand Moultrie, Penny Saunders,
Amy Seiwert and Stephen Mills. Ms. Feldman developed a passion for
choreographing through the Sacramento Ballet’s program Beer and Ballet.
She has created works for the program annually since 2012, as well as for
the School of the Sacramento Ballet. In 2015, Ms. Feldman co-founded
Capital Dance Project, a summer-based company created by Sacramento Ballet
artists. Julia has created premieres for CDP annually since its inaugural
performance in 2015. Her works have included collaborations with composer
and violinist Andy Tan, rap artist Paul Willis, and visual artists Brandon Manning and Franceska Gamez. |
Alan
Hineline is the director of artistic programming at
Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet (CPYB). He has been associated with
CPYB since 1995 and served as the CEO from 2009-2014. Previously,
Hineline lead Ballet Philippines, in Manila, as artistic director and
chief operating officer. He has works in the repertories of Central
Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, American Ballet Theatre Studio Company,
Ballet de Monterrey, Ballet Philippines, Pennsylvania Ballet, ProDanza
Cuba, Atlanta Ballet, Kansas City Ballet, Richmond Ballet, Sacramento
Ballet, Juilliard Dance Ensemble, and Ballet Academy East, among many
schools, colleges, universities and professional companies. As a
teacher, Hineline has instructed every level of dancer, from beginner
through professional. He is part of Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet’s
faculty and has been a guest faculty member for, among others, Ballet
Academy East and The Juilliard School. Along with these fine schools he
has taught at the Jackson International Ballet Competition, Aoyama
Ballet Festival, and Jacob’s Pillow Summer Dance Festival. |
Alex
Ketley is a choreographer, filmmaker, and the director of The Foundry.
Formerly a dancer with the San Francisco Ballet, he left the company to create
The Foundry as a platform to explore his interests in alternative methods of devising
performance. The company has allowed Ketley to pursue projects that would be difficult
to realize within his commissioning career. For his independent work he has received
acknowledgement from the Hubbard Street National Choreographic Competition, the
International Choreographic Competition of the Festival des Arts de Saint-Saveaur, the
Choo-San Goh Award, the Princess Grace Award for Choreography, four Maggie Allesee
National Center for Choreography Residencies, the Gerbode-Hewlett Choreographer Award,
the Eben Demarest Award, three CHIME Fellowships, the Artistry Award from the Superfest
International Disability Film Festival, and his work was featured on national television
through an invitation from the show “So You Think You Can Dance”. His pieces and
collaborations have also been awarded Isadora Duncan Awards in the categories of;
Outstanding Achievement by an Ensemble, Outstanding Achievement in Choreography, and
Outstanding Achievement by a Company. |
Tom
Mattingly is a freelance choreographer, teacher, and performer. He began his
training in the California desert while attending the summer intensives of San Francisco
Ballet School, Boston Ballet School, American Ballet Theatre, and the Rock School. Upon
graduation from Virginia School of the Arts in 2005, Tom was awarded the Dame Margot
Fonteyn Award for artistic excellence. He danced professionally with Richmond Ballet,
Chautauqua Ballet, and Cincinnati Ballet before joining Ballet West in 2008. He quickly
rose through the ranks to become principal dancer in 2013. In 2014 Tom relocated to
Chicago where he joined the newly formed contemporary ensemble Visceral Dance Chicago.
After 2 years of immersing himself in the Chicago dance scene he was invited to join
the first national tour of “An American in Paris”, the four time Tony Award winning
musical directed and choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon. Now back in Chicago, Tom
is focusing on teaching and choreography. He has created works for Ballet West, Ballet
West II, Ballet West Academy, Dance in the Parks, Richmond Ballet, Utah Arts Festival,
Ballet Arkansas, Charlottesville Ballet, Madison Ballet, Elite Choreographic Initiative,
Arova Contemporary Ballet, Beijing Ballet Invitational, World Ballet Competition, and Youth America Grand Prix. |

Monique L’Heureux is an award winning lighting designer who has been
working in the field of dance for over two decades. This year, she is celebrating her
fifteenth collaboration with artistic director, Molly Lynch.Past designs include: Ma Cong’s French Twist for Smuin Ballet; Molly Lynch’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream; Anjani Ambegaokar’s Made in Mumbaii at the Cerritos Performing Arts Center; The Motion Picture and Television Fund event featuring Chita Rivera, Dick van Dyke, Shirley MacLaine, Hugh Jackman, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Jennifer Hudson, and others; Charles Moulton’s Ball Passing piece in Fall for Dance at the Orange County Performing Arts Center; Robert Sund’s Alice in Wonderland; the National and Pacific Festivals of Regional Dance America; the summer season at the Hollywood Bowl; and associate design work on the Universal Studios’ Magical Starlight Parade in Osaka, Japan. She attended Pepperdine University and received her MFA from the University of California, Irvine, after which she apprenticed at the Los Angeles Music Center’s Mark Taper Forum. She has taught for the dance departments at Loyola Marymount University and Moorpark College and the theatre department at El Camino College.She is the recipient of four Lester Horton Dance Awards. She is an accomplished artist and photographer whose work has been shown in galleries including the Long Beach Public Library’s Art on Display, the Carl Broderick Gallery, VIVA Gallery, Long Beach Arts Center, City of Brea Gallery, and The Stage Gallery, as well as a permanent installation in the Glendale Adventist Medical Center.
